So this was one awesome wedding – I think looking at the picture above tells you a bit about what kind of photos Steph & Chris were keen on! They basically gave me an open brief – they wanted to do something cool, something exciting, something that nobody else had…and they were willing to do whatever it took to get the shot! (Including heading outside into the cold and wet night to do this!)
Faye & Alec – what a gorgeous couple! I first met them at the Styal Lodge open evening along with Faye’s lovely Mum, Jane, and got on like a house on fire straight away! Their day was just beautiful – the weather behaved itself when we really needed it to (and even when it didn’t it gave us a great opportunity to shoot some really cool stuff like above!) Faye looked stunning in her dress from LOVE Bridal Boutique and I loved every single second of their wonderful day Here’s their story…
I’m on a blogging mission! I’ve got soooooo many gorgeous weddings from the past year to share with you and I’m making damn sure they all get on the blog asap!!! So we’re starting with Anitha & Nick’s Styal Lodge Wedding Photographs – I LOVED this day! It was exciting, vibrant, colourful and one hell of a party! And I got to work with my lovely friends Rebecca Reville Videography and Pink Pepper Caterers
Here’s the story of Anitha & Nick’s amazing wedding day at Styal Lodge…
I LOVED this Mere Court wedding. You know it’s going to be awesome when the bride sends you an email the week before that says:
“We’re really keen to get some amazing shots of the two of us & something different to the usual shots. So we’re more than happy to do whatever you want us to do – however long it takes. We’ve given ourselves a couple of hours for drinks reception so we have plenty of room set aside to spend with you (at whatever point of the day!)”
Boom. Time to get my thinking cap on…something ‘different’ you say….how about something like above then?!?!
Katie & Ste were awesome to work with, we shot some amazing stuff and I was so happy that they had asked me to look after their Mere Court Wedding Photography – it was a blast! Here’s the story of their amazing day…
What a beaut of a wedding! Holly & Tim were married a few weeks back at the stunning Peckforton Castle in Cheshire. I was REALLY looking forward to this wedding – I know a lot of the guests from previous weddings and I know how hard they like to party! Tim had been in a couple of bridal party’s at weddings I’d shot previously (check out Jordana & Ben’s wedding, Bex & Matt’s wedding and Jenny & Ross’s wedding and you’ll see that I’d met Tim a few times before!) and all those weddings were amazing. And I knew this one would be too. Especially when they booked my good friend and multi-award winning DJ, Andy Murphy for an extra 3 hours so that they could continue their party in Peckforton Castle’s famous wine cellar! So here’s the story of Holly & Tim’s amazing day…
Aah, Laura & Dave’s wedding at Peckforton Castle. What a gorgeous, lovely couple. Their wedding was just perfect. They were amazing to work with and they involved some amazing suppliers too It was a pleasure as always working with my great friend Sian from Didsbury Flower Lounge, award winning DJ Andy Murphy and the wonderful Airy Fairy Cupcakes (Laura’s very own business!) Peckforton Castle Wedding Photographs tend to be pretty spectacular. It is a castle after all! But there’s just something about Laura & Dave’s photographs that make them even more spectacular. They were such a pleasure to work with and so committed to getting some amazing pictures of their stunning day. Here are some of my favourites…
Words can’t actually describe how much fun this wedding was – Jack & Stephen like to party. So do their friends and family. Hard. As a complete bonus I was also working with some of my favourite people in the wedding industry, Silk Wedding Films, Howard Wing, Precious Things and Flossy & Leigh. It doesn’t get much better! I laughed from minute one of the day and didn’t stop until I was halfway home that night – a truly brilliant wedding.
Jack & Stephen – thank you so much for having me along to take your Shrigley Hall Wedding Photographs. I had an awesome time with you guys
Jonny will guide you through a full wedding day, from bridal preparations through until the first dance and you will get the opportunity to photograph a ‘bride and groom’ throughout the course of the day.
You will be entitled to use the images on your blog, website, Facebook and Twitter – this is an amazing opportunity to shoot at one of the UK’s most popular bespoke weddings venues under the direction of one of the country’s most talked about wedding photographers.
Jonny will spend the first part of the morning demonstrating how he edits his photographs. Using images that he will have taken on day one alongside you, he will show you how he runs his workflow, ensuring he maintains a time-efficient, yet bespoke process so that each and every wedding is unique.
“The Business” of weddings and wedding photography is the day’s overall theme.
How best to generate & convert enquiries?
How to establish and build relationships with venues, bridal shops, wedding planners and other photographers?
What part can social media contribute to your business?
Sarah Heath, Heaton House Farm’s Marketing and Business Development Coordinator and co-owner, will speak from the venue’s perspective.
What does a venue look for in suppliers when deciding to add people to their recommended list?
What can you do as a wedding photographer to establish and develop relationships with wedding venues?
As well as Sarah, attendees will also hear from Emma Draper, Owner of Cheshire’s most exclusive bridal experience, Love Bridal Boutique.
Often, a bridal boutique is the very first place brides-to-be get in touch with. Emma will explain why it is crucial for wedding photographers to have a great relationship with bridal boutiques and how they can generate regular enquiries through these relationships.
Over the course of the two days, Jonny will be demonstrating how he creates his signature images, where he finds his inspiration for each wedding shoot, how he forms his relationships with his clients and how he continues to grow his business through networking, referrals, social media, word of mouth and through a whole host of other marketing techniques.
There will be time on each day for q&a sessions and Jonny promises that no question will go unanswered.
The two day Workshop in Wedding Photography has been designed for wedding photographers who are ready to take their business to the next level.
Whether they’re just starting out in weddings or are keen to push their business further than they have before, Jonny Draper’s infectious enthusiasm, passion and commitment to all things wedding, will leave them chomping at the bit and desperate for their next wedding to come round so they can put into practice everything they have learned!
Places are strictly limited to just 8 attendees. This will ensure that each and every person gets individual attention across both days.
The Masterclass will take place on Tuesday 4th and Weds 5th March, 2014 and places are available on a first come, first served basis, so drop Jonny an email for further information and to book your spot on this not to be missed wedding photography experience!

This was an ace wedding from start to finish. Styal Lodge Wedding Photographs are always special. It’s amazing how sometimes even from week to week it can look so different depending on the weather, what’s sprung up in the garden, whether people are having their drinks reception inside the amazing wooden lodge or basking on the terrace – it’s just such a stunning venue. I was also excited to be working with my great friend and recently crowned “Best Wedding Entertainer in the UK” in The Wedding Industry Awards, Howard Wing. I was also working with another great friend and also award winning – Andy Murphy, “Best Wedding DJ in the North West” in the same awards!
I’ve been really bad at blogging recently. I’ve shot some amazing weddings this year and they will all appear on these very pages I promise! But a lot of other crazy stuff has been happening recently…like LOVE Bridal being crowned joint ‘Best Bridal Retailer in the North West’ in The Wedding Industry Awards! (Had to get that in!)
And I’m shooting a lot. A lot of weddings. A lot of pre-wedding shoots. Which made me realise that although I post images from all my pre-wedding shoots on my Facebook page, recently they haven’t made it onto the blog. So tonight that changes! I work with brilliant couples. Brilliant couples who are so excited about their wedding days, all of the different parts of the wedding day and the photography too! Which makes them a dream to work with. Which results in stunning pre-wedding shoots like the ones below.
I’ve literally just grabbed a handful of recent shoots to showcase – just to show the sort of thing you can do, the kind of location that you can use and that you can actually have a bit of fun along the way. It doesn’t have to be all rigid and staged. In fact it should really reflect each bride and groom’s personality. Which I’m sure you’ll agree these shoots do that perfectly
