This was the most beautiful Langdale Chase lake district wedding I met Charlotte & Paul a few years ago when they were at another of my lovely bride and groom’s weddings, Katie & Nick, so it was a pleasure to be involved in their big day and see all their lovely friends again!
Faye & Alec – what a gorgeous couple! I first met them at the Styal Lodge open evening along with Faye’s lovely Mum, Jane, and got on like a house on fire straight away! Their day was just beautiful – the weather behaved itself when we really needed it to (and even when it didn’t it gave us a great opportunity to shoot some really cool stuff like above!) Faye looked stunning in her dress from LOVE Bridal Boutique and I loved every single second of their wonderful day Here’s their story…
Well, this wedding reads like a “Who’s who” of the North West wedding industry! And what a bloody pleasure it was to be involved in from start to finish! I LOVED shooting Donna and Wayne’s West Tower Wedding Photographs – the day was literally amazing
It’s here! The blog post all about my recent Masterclass in Locations, Lighting & Posing. This work shop does what it says on the tin. It was all about choosing great locations, using lighting creatively (a mix of natural light, video and constant light sources, off camera flash and location lighting) and posing your subject.
Me, TWENTY photographers, an amazing team working with me – it was always going to be a blast!
We started off early doors prepping our model, the gorgeous Sarah, for the day ahead. We’d been bold. We wanted to do three full changes on the day, including a bridal look and we knew we didn’t have much time to spare in between shooting. But that’s where the awesome team comes into play. Paisley Gamble Hairdresser and Kerry Baker Make Up Artist alongside my gorgeous wife Emma (from LOVE Bridal Boutique!) ensured that Sarah looked amazing and was ready in an unbelievably short time!
Massive thanks have to go to Jenny from The Lowry for letting us use the interior of this amazing building, Howard Wing for working with the photographers on all things marketing and networking and generally how to be an amazing wedding supplier, to Joe & Karin from Pinchjo’s Tapas bar and restaurant in West Didsbury for hosting the ‘after party’ and to Andy Murphy DJ for spinning the tunes and ensuring that everyone suitable embarrassed themselves singing karaoke
So to start off, some instagram ‘behind the scenes’ photos courtesy of Howard, Kerry and Emma…
Getting things started – this is what I shot on the day…
Some of the attending photographers have been kind enough to share some of their images from the day – I LOVE seeing how differently everyone has framed images, processed them and really put their own stamp on them
And then it was party time….it started off relatively sensibly as overall, this was part of the workshop to encourage a little bit of ‘networking’ – amongst the attending photographers and all the involved suppliers as well as some of my other wedding supplier friends I’d invited to join us for the evening – it was great to see Sian from Didsbury Flower Lounge, Tom from Silk Wedding Films, Helen and Pete from We Are Life, Ben and Kate from Thyme Out Deli and Catering and Helen from Macleod Bradley
But then the rounds of jagermeister started and it all got a bit nuts…!!!
…and got ridiculous quite quickly…!!!
Finally, a huge thank you to Jo Eardley for assisting on the day and shooting the party images for us – great work Jo!
Keep your eye on my Facebook page for more Workshops, Masterclasses and Training experiences (not all finish with a party I’m afraid!)
Ahh, this one takes me back This is the gorgeous Emma and Chris and I was delighted when they asked me to take their Didsbury House Hotel Wedding Photographs before Christmas.
I’ve known Chris for a long time – we grew up next door to each other! And when I introduced his Emma to my Emma, they hit it off straight away and next thing we found ourselves at their wedding as guests as well as working! And we even stayed over – which took us right back to the night after our own wedding just over 6 years ago when we stayed at Didsbury House Hotel the night before we flew off on honeymoon
This was a wedding that I had been looking forward to for a long time. My lovely friend Zoe was marrying Chris at Stanley House Hotel in Lancashire and I was so excited to be taking their wedding photographs for them. Zoe & I used to work together back in the day when I had a ‘proper’ job (!) and she was my number one fan from minute one of establishing ‘Jonny Draper Photography’! She passed my details on to everyone she knew, shouted my name from the rooftops and convinced some of her very good friends to book me to shoot their weddings in the early days of my wedding photography career. For which I will be forever grateful
Zoe and Chris, it was amazing to shoot your wedding – It was everything you described it would be and much more. Stanley House Wedding Photographs are always beautiful, but you guys lit the place up and were a pleasure to work with (talking of pleasures to work with, it was as always lovely to see my great friend Paul Guard do his thing – with his big band too, which is always brilliant to see!)
Jonny will guide you through a full wedding day, from bridal preparations through until the first dance and you will get the opportunity to photograph a ‘bride and groom’ throughout the course of the day.
You will be entitled to use the images on your blog, website, Facebook and Twitter – this is an amazing opportunity to shoot at one of the UK’s most popular bespoke weddings venues under the direction of one of the country’s most talked about wedding photographers.
Jonny will spend the first part of the morning demonstrating how he edits his photographs. Using images that he will have taken on day one alongside you, he will show you how he runs his workflow, ensuring he maintains a time-efficient, yet bespoke process so that each and every wedding is unique.
“The Business” of weddings and wedding photography is the day’s overall theme.
How best to generate & convert enquiries?
How to establish and build relationships with venues, bridal shops, wedding planners and other photographers?
What part can social media contribute to your business?
Sarah Heath, Heaton House Farm’s Marketing and Business Development Coordinator and co-owner, will speak from the venue’s perspective.
What does a venue look for in suppliers when deciding to add people to their recommended list?
What can you do as a wedding photographer to establish and develop relationships with wedding venues?
As well as Sarah, attendees will also hear from Emma Draper, Owner of Cheshire’s most exclusive bridal experience, Love Bridal Boutique.
Often, a bridal boutique is the very first place brides-to-be get in touch with. Emma will explain why it is crucial for wedding photographers to have a great relationship with bridal boutiques and how they can generate regular enquiries through these relationships.
Over the course of the two days, Jonny will be demonstrating how he creates his signature images, where he finds his inspiration for each wedding shoot, how he forms his relationships with his clients and how he continues to grow his business through networking, referrals, social media, word of mouth and through a whole host of other marketing techniques.
There will be time on each day for q&a sessions and Jonny promises that no question will go unanswered.
The two day Workshop in Wedding Photography has been designed for wedding photographers who are ready to take their business to the next level.
Whether they’re just starting out in weddings or are keen to push their business further than they have before, Jonny Draper’s infectious enthusiasm, passion and commitment to all things wedding, will leave them chomping at the bit and desperate for their next wedding to come round so they can put into practice everything they have learned!
Places are strictly limited to just 8 attendees. This will ensure that each and every person gets individual attention across both days.
The Masterclass will take place on Tuesday 4th and Weds 5th March, 2014 and places are available on a first come, first served basis, so drop Jonny an email for further information and to book your spot on this not to be missed wedding photography experience!
