Yesterday was a glorious day for a pre-wedding shoot! You can always rely on Manchester to deliver a wonderfully balmy summer’s afternoon when you need to get out and shoot some beautiful location images
So I met Tanya & Paul at The Didsbury Pub for a ‘loosener’ before we headed into Fletcher Moss Park for their pre-wedding shoot. I’m REALLY looking forward to their wedding at Bartle Hall in November – Ive met one of two of their guests before… (Niccola & Grant to name some!) and the mighty Howard Wing will be doing his thing – always great fun!
On with the sneak preview…
Great day yesterday guys! Can’t wait for your big day now!
Have I ever mentioned that The Inn at Whitewell is one of my favourite places?!?!? Emma and I got married there, so it’s always lovely heading back up there for another amazing wedding. Kelly and Mike were married in Whitechapel and then had their reception at The Inn. Another reason I was looking forward to it was a couple of my very good wedding friends, Flower Design and the depressingly tall and good looking Howard Wing were also onboard for Kelly and Mike’s big day – so it had ‘belter’ written all over it from minute one!
So I started off up at The Inn at Whitewell in the morning with the girls and couldn’t tear myself away from the view from Kelly’s bedroom window…
Flower Design make just the most beautiful flowery creations!
On the way back to The Inn, Kelly, Mike and I spent a couple of minutes at the ‘top of the hill’ – gorgeous, hey?
The marquee looked spectacular, dressed by Flower Design and by Kelly who had put the most beautiful details into their day…
What a view…
The wedding breakfast was under way and Howard did his thing…
How tropical does Fletcher Moss Park look in these shots?!?! We could have been in the jungle! It was great to catch up with the very lovely and gorgeous Kelly & Mike for their pre-wedding shoot in Didsbury. I’m soooooo excited about their wedding – it’s at The Inn at Whitewell! (Have I mentioned before that’s where Emma and I got married?!?!) As an added bonus, I get to work with my great weddingy friends, Flower Design (AMAZING florist genius types!) AND Howard Wing, entertainment supremo! It’s going to be a hell of a wedding!
What a night last night! An evening of pure wedding inspiration brought to you by some of the best in the business!
We’d sold out the event and welcomed 60 guests made up of brides and grooms to be and their friends and families to come and spend an evening immersed in all things wedding – great food, great entertainment and great ideas to take away with them.
Guests arrived and enjoyed reception drinks and canape’s before being seated at their tables – which is when things really got started…!!!
Flutterby Couture had created all of the stationery for the evening, including the seating plan, table names, place names…
Flower Design had created these amazing table centre pieces – every single one was different with the aim of showing off just how creative you can be on your big day…
Mitton Hall served an amazing 4 course menu (and canapes!) that was designed to be shared which worked so well on the tables. All of the ‘wedding superhero’s’ involved had places at the tables so we got the chance to say hello to all of the guests personally and give them the opportunity to chat to us about their big day and all things wedding!
Top wedding entertainer Howard Wing was our man with the mic and really kept everyone entertained all evening – even letting Dave, Mitton Hall’s Maitre d’, blast out a chorus or two! (He was awesome!)
Meanwhile….while all this was going on out front, our team of make-over experts were working tirelessly in the back, preparing for a very special moment later in the evening…
Back out front, Joe from Specialized Cakes had given everyone the task of icing their own cupcake! Great touch!
The moment everyone had been waiting for! Right at the beginning of the evening we introduced the full team of wedding superhero’s involved in the evening and also some special guests – our ‘brides and grooms’ for the evening, Olivia & Dan and Sarah & Ben. They were introduced in their ‘normal’ clothes and then during the course of the evening backstage, Sheree from One & Only Bridal Couture (who also did an amazing job on Sarah & Olivia’s hair!) and Emma Draper Make-Up Artist gave them a full make-over, dressed them in some amazing wedding gowns and suits and presented them to our guests at the end of the night!
Flower Design had brought along some gorgeous rose petal confetti and we invited some of our guests to do the confetti thing as our brides and grooms entered the room!
Sarah wore an amazing Jenny Packham gown…
Olivia wore Ian Stuart’s ‘Flowerbomb’…stunning…
Then there was just time for the big finish from Howard Wing who really got everyone going for his last number!
The man who coined the phrase ‘Wedding Superhero’s’ Tom Harrington from Silk Wedding Videos shot some amazing footage throughout the evening – which will be coming soon…
Sheree & Emma!
Once we’d bid our guests goodnight, there was just time for me to spend 10 minutes with our brides and grooms shooting some seriously cool images in a truly beautiful venue. I love working at Mitton Hall – it’s in a beautiful part of the world and if you’re lucky enough to get a gorgeous day, the view from the terrace is magnificent. However, if you’re having a winter wedding, or you’re a little bit unlucky with the weather on your day, these images show that you can still produce amazing, creative images that are full of atmosphere and you can do it very quickly too.
I love spending time with my brides and grooms on their big day, but I hate the idea of taking them away from their party to do this. So I ‘steal’ moments with them throughout the day, take 2 minutes here, 30 seconds there – and the images you see below were shot in a very similar way. Everyone was tired from a long evening and the bar was calling…(!!!) so I knew I wanted to move quickly and still get great images and as I said above, it took literally 10 minutes to get all of the shots you see below, which is a great way to work on a wedding. No fuss over the shots, no guests stood around for ages waiting for photographs to happen, just everything happening quietly and quickly!
So a final massive thank you to everyone involved – thank you to Vicky & Vicky for all of their help in the build up to the event and on the night itself. Massive thanks to Dave for being so easy to work with (as always!) and finally a massive thank you to the Wedding Superhero’s! Flower Design, Howard Wing, Silk Wedding Videos, One & Only Bridal Couture, Flutterby Couture, Creative Cover Hire, Specialized Cakes, Emma Draper MUA, Peter Jackson The Jewellers and our amazing models, Olivia & Dan and Sarah & Ben.
This weekend is going to be amazing! The Great Hall at Mains are throwing their doors open from 11am-4pm on both Saturday AND Sunday and are holding a weekend of inspiration & ideas provided by some of the best wedding experts in the business!
Emma & I were invited to attend the opening of what promises to be one of the most in-demand wedding venues in the UK – it’s gorgeous!
An amazing barn conversion with absolutely no corners cut. We’re talking LED lighting, i-Pod docks built into the walls, an amazing drop down screen with back projector, plus all of the original and traditional features painstakingly and lovingly restored.
I’ve been involved with the conversion (just talking photographs, not actually doing any of the graft I must admit!) for quite a few months now and it was a real pleasure to see the Tithe Barn at Browsholme Hallfinally finished and ready for action!
Jane & Jason Thompson from Flower Design created some spectacular candelabra arrangements just for the opening evening – I love working with Flower Design, they’re always so passionate and creative and without fail, ALWAYS seriously good fun!
Champagne flowed freely!
How cool is the screen and the LED surrounds?
I think everyone who was invited turned up! Nobody wanted to miss this event!
A great launch night for a great venue. I can’t wait for my first wedding there – the very lovely and gorgeous Vicki & Stuart are getting married there in 2011!
I posted a sneak preview of Dorothy & Paul’s pre-wedding shoot at Dunham Massey a few weeks ago – I loved that one image so much that I’ve included it again on this post! I’m sooooo excited about Dorothy & Paul’s big day – one of my favourite venues, some of my favourite people and best wedding friends – it’s going to be brilliant!
They’re getting married at the best kept secret in Lytham St Anne’s – the magnificent Lytham Hall(although thanks to all the couples who are getting married there these days, it’s becoming much more well known which I’m really pleased about) The best in the business are all there making it happen from them – Rowley’s Catering looking after all things food, drink and making sure the whole day goes perfectly. Flower Design making the hall look even more spectacular than it does already! And the main man, my very good friend, Howard Wing – the UK’s no 1 wedding singer – it really is going to be a very special day.
So onto the shoot and Dorothy and Paul – I was so delighted to get a phone call from Dorothy once they’d received their images. They were absolutely made up with the shots and it was so nice of Dorothy to take the time to call me and tell me – she didn’t have to do that and I really was so happy to take that call! But that’s the kind of people they are – good fun, kind, caring and thoughtful. Perfect clients!
We arrived at Dunham Massey at 9:30am in the morning and it was a pretty miserable day. Brolly’s at the ready we walked through to the main park where, as soon as we started shooting, the rain stopped! We got a good hour in before it started again and then hit the cafe just as the heavens opened! Perfect timing!
Here’s some of my favourites from the shoot…
This was the shot from the sneak preview – how dramatic?!?!
The rest of the images will be here next week, but for now, here’s one that I loved as soon as I shot it! Dorothy & Paul are getting married in a few weeks and having their reception at one of my favourite venues, the spectacular Lytham Hall.
I really can’t wait to shoot Dorothy & Paul’s wedding, they’re so lovely and so photogenic it’s not true! They’re going to look amazing on their special day.
But not only do I get to shoot two gorgeous people in a gorgeous venue, I get to work with some of my most favourite and gorgeous wedding friends too! The amazing Rowley’s Catering, the incredible Jane & Jason from Flower Designand the horribly tall & good looking Howard Wing (congratulations to Howard & Sam on the birth of their son, William this week! All the best guys!)
This is going to be a truly fantastic wedding!
More images from Dorothy & Paul’s pre-wedding shoot at Dunham Massey coming soon…
