Pure Weddings Magazine features!

Weddings | 09.09.2011

How exciting to find that not one but TWO of my weddings were published in the August issue of Pure Weddings Magazine!

The first is Hannah & Jason’s amazing Styal Lodge wedding featuring some of my best wedding buddies including Silk Wedding Videos, Timeless Bride, Laurel Weddings and of course Styal Lodge…Beauty!

The second is Diana & Brett’s fabulous Scarborough wedding (featuring my great friends The Coolers!) – Awesome!

What a great end to the week!

Louise and Andy’s Mitton Hall Wedding – Sneak Preview!

Weddings | 26.08.2011

There were some big guns out for this wedding yesterday, let me tell you!  Mitton Hall itself (exclusively no less!)  TWO dresses from One and Only Bridal Couture, Flower Design, Silk Wedding Videos, Stephen Bayliss, Charlese, The Coolers - I could actually go on and on!  It was a hell of a wedding!

Perfect venue, glorious weather – what more could you want?!

Here’s a little sneak preview at all the awesomeness, starting at Louise’s Mum & Dad’s house in Preston…

On to the church and after a little encouragement, Louise & Andy’s little one came charging down the aisle…!!!

On arrival at Mitton Hall…

Stealing the show!  Soprano Bella came in to ‘arrest’ the best man and burst into song (they were seriously amazing – they finished with the most incredible performance of ‘Nessun Dorma’ and sent shivers down my spine…) And this was all before the speeches!

After the speeches (and before Louise went to slip into wedding dress no2!  A beautiful Jenny Packham gown!)

All change!  (How amazing does Louise look!?!?)

The night do got under way with the incredible Stephen Bayliss opening his set with the first dance…

What a day!  Congratulations once again Louise & Andy!

Christina and Louis’s Tatton Park Pre-Wedding shoot – Sneak Preview!

Pre-wedding | 10.08.2011

Here’s another gorgeous pre-wedding shoot from yesterday – this time it was Chrissie & Louis’s turn at Tatton Park in Cheshire. Chrissie & Louis are getting married in January at The Belle Epoque in Knutsford and it’s going to be a seriously amazing day. My great friends and the hottest band out there, The Coolers, will be there so it’s guaranteed to be a properly awesome day! Can’t wait!

So, here’s a little sneak peek at what we shot yesterday…

I love it when I jokingly say things like “Right Chrissie, me & Louis are going to lift you into that tree” and it then actually happens…

Love this sequence!

Anyone would think Louis had been in front of a camera before…

Seriously though – how gorgeous are these two?!?!

Looking forward to your big day next year guys!

Louise and Andy’s Inn at Whitewell Pre-Wedding Shoot – Sneak Peek!

Weddings | 03.08.2011

Another great excuse to head up to The Inn at Whitewell today! (Can’t recall if I’ve ever mentioned that’s where Emma & I got married…!!!) We shot the very lovely and gorgeous Louise & Andy’s pre-wedding shoot there this afternoon with a slight twist…well, more of a contrast really. They decided to go completely the opposite to what you’d normally wear for a stroll in the countryside – and it worked amazingly well!
I’m REALLY excited about their big day now – they’re getting married at another of my favourite venues, Mitton Hall and have some of my great wedding friends along for the ride too! Including top band The Coolers and not one but TWO wedding dresses from One & Only Bridal Couture! It’s going to be an amazing day!

So without further ado (and because I know Louise is staying up just to see this blog post!) a little taster of what we shot this evening…

Picking their way carefully to the prime location…!!!

We decided to make a feature of Louise’s seriously cool pink Hunter wellies…

You can’t go to The Inn at Whitewell and not go on the stepping stones!

A quick outfit change for Louise and then some more seriously cool shots (how good do these guys look?!?)

Awesome work guys!  Can’t wait for your big day now!

Top 20 of 2011 – So far…

Weddings | 20.07.2011

How about a ‘midseason’ review then? I thought I’d showcase my favourite 20 images shot at weddings so far this year. The rules? Only one image per wedding is allowed and I’m not allowed to waffle on for ages about boring technical things! A simple sentence with each image to explain why it’s my favourite from that particular wedding.

I’ve been very lucky again this year to work alongside some of my favourite wedding friends at so many of these weddings and all these images feature them. Not in shot. In true ‘Jerry Maguire’ style, they are somewhere just out of shot! So a big thank you to my great friends at Styal Lodge, Silk Wedding Videos, Flower Design, One and Only Bridal Couture, The Coolers, Rowley’s Catering, Timeless Bride, Green Earth Flowers, Lytham Hall, Charlotte Balbier, The White Closet, Top Table Events, Emma Draper MUA, Didsbury Life, The Flower Lounge and And the Dish Ran Away with the Spoon to name just a few!

The images are in no particular order – I love them all equally!

So we start with a gorgeous shot of Ruth of off Ruth and Andy who were married at The Ashes in April.  I love it’s ethereal (ness!)  That is all!

Dawn and Phil and the surprise organised by her friends at school – this is Dawn’s class forming a guard of honour with hockey sticks on her arrival at church!  What’s not to love?!

Emma & Pete.  Drinking with a helping hand from their friends.  Need I say more?!?!

Jacqui & Will at Styal Lodge.  A beautiful wedding for a beautiful couple.  They’ve gone back to London now and I miss them.  Sniff….

Sarah (off of Sarah & Martin) and her girls giving it both barrels on the bowling green!  Love it!

A timeless portrait of the quite simply stunning Neelum (Neelum & Shabab) at Haigh Hall.  Gorgeous.

Leona and Will at Sandhole Oak Barn.  This was a hell of a wedding!  I was lucky enough to sit on the bridesmaids table for the wedding breakfast – what an experience!  (Thanks to CB for looking after me and Katy and Katie for frightening me to death!)

Carrie & Rob at Oddfellows in Chester.  Uber cool.

Sian and Dave at The Inn at Whitewell.  I actually saw one of their friends comment on Facebook that this shot summed up their day.  The weather, the happy vibe, the excitement.  So that’s why it’s here!  ‘Cos I agree!

Mel & Jivko‘s Conway Castle wedding.  This shot is all about Jivko’s flick of the veil!

My sister and her husband.  Kate & Ant at our favourite Italian restaurant, The Tarantella in Poynton.  What an amazing day…

Jordana & Ben and their awesome bridal party.  Cool as anything.

Jenna & Chris at Mitton Hall.  Because this is the shot that Jenna and I had talked about for months leading up to their wedding.  And we nailed it exactly as she imagined.  Perfect!

Hannah & Jason on the platform at Styal Lodge.  Taking advantage of the moody sky and proving that it’s not all about bright sunny days!

Catherine (off of Catherine & Will) and her girlies.  Sometimes waiting until a little bit later in the day for certain shots is totally worth it…

Sam & Aaron at Duncombe Park in North Yorkshire.  Because they look amazing in what is a completely amazing venue.

Nicky & Graham at Styal Lodge in Cheshire.  Because I got nettled!

Laura & John at The Villa in Wrea Green, Lancashire.  They had a table for two at their wedding breakfast!  How cool?!

Catherine & Richard and their gorgeous bridal party at Lytham Hall.  Owning the place.

Lisa and Eric at Thornton Manor.  Does this shot need a reason?!?!

Possibly the closest wedding I’ll ever do to my front door!  Lisa & Alex’s ‘Secret’ West Didsbury Wedding.  This shot just sums up everything about the coolest part of South Manchester…

So that’s it so far!  Gorgeous couples, gorgeous venues and all round gorgeousness!  Plenty more to come the rest of the year which I’m sure will be just as fab as the first half of the year has been!

Styal Lodge Wedding Photography – Nicky and Graham

Weddings | 12.07.2011

Oh Styal Lodge I love you – the venue that looks different inside and out EVERY time you’re there. It’s so beautiful and versatile, the terrace is a summer haven that is beautifully kept all year round and literally changes week to week (that’s Sarah’s hard work and dedication to it!) The interior needs nothing doing to it because in it’s bare form it’s something straight out of ‘Grand Designs’ – but it can also have absolutely anything done to it and it looks spectacular. And not forgetting the gorgeous Higham family who own it. It’s their place, they work every single wedding and every bride and groom is so important and special to them. It’s a fabulous place to be in. All those reasons are why Nicky & Graham fell in love with the lodge and I was so happy to see it work EXACTLY as they had planned for months. Nothing formal, completely relaxed, BBQ on the terrace (yes! It was sunny and warm!) – they got the lot!

Here’s a little sneak preview of the most perfect day…

A very calm and relaxed morning in the bridal sitting room at  the lodge!

Quite relaxing for Graham and the boys too!

Nicky’s Dad, Tom, is the King of Cravats!

Nicky & Graham’s little boy, Harry, spotted himself in the mirror…

We had a little wander around the grounds…

‘The shot’!!!

Top sax dude, Kenji Fenton in action…

Nothing like a bit of ridiculous dancing to really get the night do going!

Top band – The Coolers

Congratulations again Nicky & Graham – it was amazing to be a part of your special day.

Sarah and Martin’s Ribby Hall Wedding – Sneak Peek!

Weddings | 06.06.2011

Saturday was a wedding packed full of awesomeness! There were loads of my wedding friends involved, including Flower Design, Paul Guard and The Coolers and to top it all off – the weather was amazing!

Here’s a little sneak preview of Sarah & Martin’s gorgeous day starting at St Nicholas’s on Wrea Green…

Horse and carriage for the trip back to Ribby Hall

Flower Design created the most magnificent top table!

And how about those Flower Design bouquet’s???

Text book hen party pose…

Stag equivalent…!!!

Paul Guard got the guests right up for it!!!

After the wedding breakfast I spent a few minutes with Sarah & Martin around Ribby Hall…

Sarah’s amazing gown was from the fabulous Dreamcatcher Bridal in Kirkham…

Love this!

First dance time!

The Coolers really got the party started!

Congratulations again Sarah & Martin!

Sandhole Oak Barn Wedding Photography – Dawn and Phil

Weddings | 03.04.2011

Wowsers – what an incredible day yesterday was! Dawn & Phil got married in their local church in Widnes and then we made our way to the amazing Sandhole Oak Barn in Cheshire for their reception.

The wind and rain from the previous day (and the morning!) had disappeared and the drinks reception was held on Sandhole’s gorgeous terrace – something that none of us had been banking on this early in the year! So everyone was absolutely delighted!

A little sneaky peek at a few shots from yesterday which really do give a great feel for the kind of amazing day it was…

Starting off with the ‘guard of honour’ on her arrival made up of the kids from Dawn’s own class at school (she’s not in the class, she’s their teacher!) which was organised as a surprise for Dawn! How lovely!

What an afternoon!

The evening was absolutely beautiful…

What a truly amazing day that was a privilege to be a part of.

Congratulations Dawn and Phil!

More images coming soon…

Catherine and Richard’s Inn at Whitewell Pre-wed shoot – Sneak Peek!

Pre-wedding | 29.03.2011

Aahhhh…one of my favourite places in the world…The Inn at Whitewell (Emma and I got married there!)

A beautiful start to the day this morning in the brisk countryside air with Catherine & Richard who get married at another gorgeous venue, Lytham Hall, this summer (Love it there! AND, I get to work with my great wedding pals Rowley’s Catering AND Flower Design! AND, the coolest wedding band in the land – The Coolers! It’s going to be awesome!)

Here’s a little sneaky peek at what we shot this morning…

More coming soon!

Diana and Brett’s Scarborough Summer wedding!

Weddings | 20.08.2010

Hooray! Time to post Di & Brett’s awesome summer-y wedding!

I actually know Diana from a previous life (before all things photography took over!) when we used to work with each other, so I really was delighted when she got in touch after I’d met up with her and her very lovely Mum, Julie, to say that she’d love to book me to shoot hers and Brett’s special day.

Di & Brett were getting married in Scarborough itself before heading to Julie’s gorgeous house where they were having their reception in a marquee in the back garden. I started off my day meeting up with Di & the girls at Julie’s…

On our way back to Julie’s, we stopped by the esplanade in Scarborough – this was something Diana had been keen on since we starting talking about how things on the day would work, so we made sure we got there!

diana_brett_wedding_lores 167

I love the guys on the left of the frame!  At first, in a slightly (very!) naive way, I’d sort of envisaged the esplanade being empty and there being this big romantic moment between Di & Brett with me there to capture it.  But of course, on a beautifully sunny day there were loads of people around which quickly made me get back on track & remember what I always say to people about locations.  You shoot a location for what it is.  What was there at the time was what was really happening – why would you want to change or hide that?  I think this image really tells a story and shows exactly what I mean by what I have said above…
